Alvarado Photography-The Story Behind the photo: Jennifer and Jim’s Engagement Session

Written by Jess on May 25th, 2011

For our featured Blog post we’d like share Jennifer and Jim’s engagement session.  Jim and Jennifer flew in from Illinois  for a mini vacation and to of course celebrate their recent engagement.  I must say, this was the most memorable session that we’ve had to date.  We had their session set for Saturday  but due to the rain they opted to reschedule  the next day in the morning.

When we arrived at Secret Beach Ko Olina, it looked a bit dark and cloudy but we thought, hey and least it wasn’t raining.  So 10 mins into the session and out of no where, the rain poured like there was no tomorrow. It was the most rain we’ve experienced during a session and we were a bit surprised since Ko Olina is one of the drier areas of the island.  So the four of us took shade under a tree and want waited for about 15mins.  We headed back out to snap a few more pictures and again the rain came pouring all over us.  We must have done the whole running to the tree and back to beach thing at least  four more times.

I’m so glad that Jim and Jennifer were such good sports about the whole thing. Luckily, they did bring extra clothes to the session so they were able to change out of their wet  outfits.  Despite all that happened, we were still able to capture some beautiful photos of the two.  I told them  at least now they have a great story to tell their family and friends back home… and they have the photos to prove it!

Written by Jess on May 23rd, 2011

 Dear AP Blog Followers!

Thank you  for keeping up with our work. We are so behind on our blog .. it’s not even funny.  We’ll try to make it a point to keep this thing updated as much  as possible!

Today we are featuring Autumn and Luke’s Sunset Wedding day shot at beautiful Ko Olina. The two flew in all the way from Tennessee to  have destination wedding here in Oahu, Hawaii.   It was a very intimate wedding, 5 people total including ourselves.  We’re  happy have captured their wedding photos but to also be a signed witness on their marriage certificate as well!  =)  The weather was acting up the week of their wedding so we were a bit concerned that it might rain.. but thank god the weather held up and we were able to capture these beautiful pictures .  Special thanks to Jessica and Ben for referring Luke and Autumn to us. We’re so thrilled to have captured both of your weddings!

Again Congratulations to Autumn and Luke ! Best Wishes on your new chapter together!

Behind the Photo- Nicole and William’s Couple Session

Written by Jess on April 13th, 2011

Photoshoot date: 3/26/11 Location: Bellows Beach, Waimanalo Weather:  Sunny/Partly Cloudy  with mild Winds This was a very special photo shoot for us as  we’ve always had a soft spot for Military Families.   The session took place at Bellows Beach and  we were surprised that the weather held up the way it did considering it was raining the days prior.  Nicole and William were so easy to shoot and were pretty much game to do anything. They had two outfit changes:  1st one was William in his military uniform and Nicole in simple white dress and the 2nd one was blue casual wear paired up with  balloons.  Photos of the first outfit  is posted on our facebook fan page at: http://www.facebook.com/AlvaradoPhoto The four of us were laughing the whole  time since the balloons were going crazy wild due to the strong winds but we did get some great shots.   The rest of the session was taken at the beach where the couple wasn’t afraid to get a little wet.  Hope you guys enjoy! – AP

Shelly and Kalei’s Wedding Samples

Written by Jess on September 18th, 2010

It was a beautiful day at Waimanalo Beach for Shelly and Kalei’s Wedding. We’ve had the privilege of photographing their engagement session and now their wedding day. Family and Friends gathered around the beach as the couple said their vows to one another with smiles and laughter. We had some much fun with the family  and bridal party during their picture taking that we were laughing  the whole time.  Thank you for letting us be apart of your wedding day.

The Happy Couple:

Sandy ~ Pet portrait

Written by John Rey on June 16th, 2010

Thank you to Nellie who supported the Humane Society’s fundraiser by purchasing a pet photo shoot certificate.  We had their photo shoot on June 5th at Nellie’s home in Kailua.  Our favorite place to shoot Nellie’s pet, Sandy, was on her favorite chair, located in the middle of the living room.  We ended the day with a peaceful walk around the neighborhood.
